Elizabeth (middle name King) none (Tyler)
higher education administrator
I am one of six granddaughters of Stella Amanda Davis (Shelton).  Stella was born on October 26, 1896. She was, I believe, the 9th and last child of William and Louisa Mary (King) Davis. One of her brothers was named Edwin and I seem to recall a cousin named Lloyd Attwood.

Ahead of her time, Stella moved to NYC as a teenager, and worked for quite a few years before marrying my maternal grandfather, George Lester Shelton, also born in 1896, who had immigrated to NYC from Barley Lays (near Stratford) England.

My grandfather, Esau Davis, moved West to New Westminster at the end of the 19th century. His 1st born in BC, Gertrude, was my mother. She married John Milne, who had moved with his mother from Angus, Scotland. They produced two boys, Glenn and John, who pursued academic careers in Vancouver and Ottawa respectively. They each had three children who are proud parents of William's 7th generation, seven girls and three boys

Marie (Granter) Colwell, great granddaughter of Jacob & Rebecca and granddaughter of Eda Davis and Henry P. Granter.  I was born in St. John's NL on June 5, 1943, to George and Sarah (Anthony) Granter.   I lived in St. John's until 1970 when my husband Douglas and daughters Lorraine and Catherine moved to Halifax NS.  We were there for 2 years and then in August 1972 we moved to beautiful Fredericton NB and have been here ever since.  Doug is from Woodstock NB, graduate of the University of NB (1959) in civil engineering and moved to St. John's upon graduation.  Douglas is a Professional Engineer (retired 1996) but now has his own consulting company and still continues to work some, at his leisure.  I was an Administrative Assistant for 24 years for the NB Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists, retired in 1999.

Our daughter, Lorraine, is married and living in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  Our daughter, Catherine is married and living in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

When I was a child, just about every summer we would travel by train (Newfie Bullet) and then by boat to Safe Harbour.  I have many fond memories of times spent there with other members of the family.  Those truly were the good old days when we did not have a care in the world.  We also spent time in Wesleyville area after they moved from Safe Harbour.

We are looking forward with much anticipatiion to meeting all the relatives that I did not know I had.
